A Brazilian's Take on Web 2.0

Enzo's notes added after Paige wrote this post:

Charles Beckham is one of the people involved in the Education Department of Sun Technologies. Very nice guy with an interesting take on Web 2.0 applications in education.
I had an opportunity to talk to him at the ASTD Conferecen 2007 and through email. He really seems to love Brazil... :)

First Game / Primeiro Jogo

I forgot to mention that last week (April 12) I went to my first professional match (not playing, but watching of course:). Not even soccer I had seen a professional match, and this past friday I wnt to a Braves game with Scott, Wes and Chris...
Interesting but much slower than soccer... :)

Lesson that we learned while being in Italy...

Well well well..life has been a BIG adventure here in Italy. When we first arrived in Venice there was a strike with the entire security department. That really isn't a good feeling, especially when you are traveling abroad. Anyways, to make a long story short, the airline ended up losing all of our luggage. So for the past 4 days we have been borrowing clothes and wearing our own clothes multiple times... Last night the airline was able to find my 2 suitcase however Enzo's still was nowhere in site. BUT...the most amazing thing happened. Since we ended up buying our tickets through American Express I was able to call them and they ended up reinbursing us both $500 (together $1000)!!! What a wonderful thing to have happen! Enzo and I have had a really great time spending $. I really urge everyone to buy plane tickets through American Express and paying an extra $10 for luggage insurance like Enzo and I did.

Another thing wonderful about this card company...since Enzo's luggage is still missing they have an entire department dedicated to calling the airline and bugging them about finding the luggage! We don't even have to call. They do all the work for us! Our responsibility is to shop! I love it!

One more thing of why everyone should have an American Express...when I called I found out that there is traveling medical insurance. What I mean by that is that for $13 (i think this is what it was) a month American Express will pay for medical expenses that happen at 150 miles from home or more). It can be used anywhere in the world! They even said that if something happened they would fly someone out to see you!!! I really need to get more details about this but it sounded incredible. Enzo and I are always worried about that but with this we don't have to...

ok I know I sound like a commercial for this card company but I really am in shock at how much they have done for us over the past week. I can't imagine being here in Italy and trying to deal with this on our own...

Lesson of this story: Get American Express.

Here are some pics from when we bought clothes..notice Enzo new chique Italian outfit;)

Chegamos ontem a Bari!!! Um sonho realizado!!! L'Italia!!!
Madonna!!!
La mamma é "così carina"!!! Me lembra muito minha mãe.
