Diego and his parentals!-May 26, 2008
We LOVED having Diego, his mom, and his dad visit us. After they left we missed them so much. Speaking little English was hilarious as we walked through the Coke museum, CNN center and the Aquarium.
Bruiser loves again.
Summer is here and very little blogging went on in this blogish world this past spring. I am wondering if I should just take this site down. Now with Facebook, Myspace, MAC websites, yada yada yada it's so hard to keep up. I will TRY to update but it probably will be a poor attempt because lack of motivation.

First off and most importantly, Bruiser got a new bed. His grandmother bought it for him. When Enzo works or plays his guitar Bruiser insist on sitting in it an staring at his Daddy.

1 Step Closer to Citizenship
This past Saturday, April 26 2008, I got one step closer to my American Citizenship... I got my fingerprints done (or biometrics) at the shady USCIS branch in Atlanta...
I had sent them the forms for removal of conditions on residency a month ago, then I got a letter for the appointment that pleased them the most (1pm on a Saturday)...
Now we have to wait for my 10 year permanent resident card... in between, after a year with this new card I can actually apply for the citizenship test that not even Americans pass... go figure...

Long time...no blog.
I am a workin' fool! I am hardly able to sit down and write anymore. Sometimes I kinda miss my days of being a worthless bum in college and strolling into class (wearing PJ's) at 1:00..oh the days!
Lots has been happening here in ole' Canton. Enzo got a new job! It is with Sun Microsystems. And don't worry...we AIN'T moving to California (where it is based at). Enzo works from home (making it very convenient for me to come home to freshly folded laundry and cooked dinner...hahaha..not really).
The pictures here are from his trip to Denver, CO.

Edson e a sinuca / Edson and pool

Back to/from Brazil
Almost 2 years had passed since I'd left Brazil and hadn't seen of it again (saved photos and videos, of course).
Not much had changed, it's like I had never really left the country. Not much had changed but the size of cups, cars and my family and friends, they all looked smaller.
I missed all of them a whole lot, not so much the cups and cars... -laughter-
They all seemed to have missed me a lot as well.
I had the opportunity to, after Paige got there a week after I did, look for my father in the countryside (aka "middle of nowhere"). We didn't find him the first day (of two) that we had been there looking for him. We spent the night at my uncle's house/farm with him, my mom, his cows and his guests: thousands of flies and mosquitoes. Like my brothers says "there is only a couple of mosquitoes at that farm, but when you finally kill the couple, thousands fly over for the funeral".
We had fun. Paige even invited my mom and uncle (who is lonely during the weeks, his wife teaches in town) to have dinner at a restaurant in the nearest town. As we got there some guys started playing accordion (some country songs from Brazil). My mom and Paige gathered around them as my uncle and I ate at a table outside the restaurant: they asked Paige to sing, she asked for a song in English and, of course, "Hey Jude" was squeezed and released on his accordion as Paige (and my mom) tried to sing (one tried to stay in tune, the other tried to hum in English on top of that).
The day after that we went back to my father's ranch (or shack with bad living conditions) and we were frustrated again as we didn't find him. As we were leaving we saw a guy dropping him off at his landlord's door. Someone we met a day before had told him we were looking for him and he went back to get his best outfit to go wait for us at my sister's vacation (little but cozy) house in town. We gave him a ride back to town. He would have ridden a bike the distance of about 25 miles.
He was glad we were all together having lunch. He had a picture of Paige in his little picture album that my nephew Felipe had given him. He said he asked Jesus to help him stop drinking. "I'm a catholic, I'm not going to change my religion. But I know Jesus is the way, so I asked Him to help me not drink anymore. Drinking destroys people's lives..." were his words. He held my mom's hand and asked her if she was healthy, she said yes and he started laughing. I asked him wife he held her hand like that and he said: "I just like having everyone united..." I think that after all those years he is starting to realize what he (and alcohol) had done to him and our family (he was abusive towards my mom and siblings - my mom left him before I was 5). He used to chase my mom down the streets at gun point. Well, he seems to be asking for forgiveness in the littlest gestures. He wanted my mom to make him some coffee. She did it. He drank many cups and said "thank you so much, your coffee is the best..." He looked at Paige and said she as pretty, then pointed at my mom (at the table with all of us) and said "This old lady is also very pretty..." - he laughed.

This trip was great. We got my family together for "Thanksgiving" with a feast provided by Paige's parents. They all loved it.
On our way back my brother called me and said (about to cry): "Paige is an angel that came into our lives. When she comes here she brings joy and union to the family. Even the atmosphere changes..." They all love Paige...
Again, the said look and tears on my mom's face as we look back at her house's gate waving good-bye is the worst thing to watch... I need to go back more often...
My mom will be trying for a visa (to come visit us) on the 12th of December. Please pray for her.
